The following countries, members of the League of Arab States:
In their belief that cooperation and coordination in the fields of industry, mining, and specifications and standards are among the main means of achieving high rates of economic development at the state and national levels.
And in their awareness for the need to strengthen economic linkages between Arab countries and the need to intensify their efforts and cooperation to coordinate their industrial and mining plans and to expedite solving industrial problems to advance industrialization in preparation for Arab industrial integration.
And based on the Arab Economic and Social Council resolution no. 1056 issued at its extraordinary session held in Amman, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, between the period 5-6/7/1988, and its resolution no. 1086 issued at the forty-seventh session, which was agreed in Tunisia on 25/10/1989. And based on the decisions of the Ministerial Committee established by the Economic and Social Council held in Tunisia between 8-9/9/1988, which decreed that the Arab Industrial Development Organization is the main organization active in this field and is entrusted with it the tasks of the Arab Organization for Mineral Resources and the Arab Organization for Standardization and Metrology, and in view of the nature and importance of specifications and standards, an activity center shall be established within the framework of the Arab Organization for Industrial Development and Mining, and within its headquarters and its budget, and located in its headquarters, tasked with all these responsibilities for its services for all sectors.
Accordingly, these Arab countries have agreed to amend the provisions of the agreement establishing the Arab Industrial Development Organization to include its new tasks in the field of mineral resources, specifications and standards, within the framework of the Arab Organization for Industrial Development and Mining, as follows:
